ZOAHARIAN.COM – The holy month of Ramadan 2027 can already be predicted. Based on astronomical calculations, Muslims in Indonesia are estimated to begin fasting during Ramadan 1448 Hijriah on Monday, February 8 2027.
However, this date has not yet become an official government determination. The start of Ramadan in Indonesia will later be determined through the Indonesian Ministry of Religion (Kemenag) isbat session by considering the results of monitoring the new moon.
The difference in Ramadan dates each year occurs because the Hijri calendar uses the Moon's circulation system, while the Gregorian calendar uses the Sun's circulation system.
Hilal Ramadhan 2027
Based on data in the Hilal Altitude Map 1448/1449 H (2027 M) published by the Meteorology, Climatology and Geophysics Agency (BMKG), the ijtimak or initial conjunction of Ramadan 1448 H is estimated to occur on Saturday, February 6 2027 at 22.56.02 WIB.
However, when the sun sets on February 6 2027, the position of the crescent moon in Indonesia will still be below the horizon. The height is estimated to range from -4.52 degrees in Jayapura to -3.22 degrees in Tua Pejat.
This means that on that date the crescent moon did not meet the visibility criteria which is one of the considerations for determining the start of the lunar month.
Under these conditions, 7 February 2027 is estimated to still be part of the month of Shaban, so that 1 Ramadan 1448 H has the potential to fall on Monday, 8 February 2027.
If we refer to this estimate, Muslims are expected to start performing Tarawih prayers on Sunday evening, February 7 2027, after the Isha prayer.
Muhammadiyah Sets 1 Ramadan 8 February 2027
Meanwhile, Muhammadiyah has set 1 Ramadhan 1448 H to coincide with Monday, February 8 2027 through the Single Global Hijri Calendar (KHGT).
KHGT uses contemporary astronomical calculations or essential calculations in determining the beginning of the Hijri month. Because it uses the reckoning method, determining the date does not have to wait for the results of the rukyatul hilal.
Thus, there is a similarity in the estimated date between the results of astronomical calculations referred to from BMKG data and the KHGT Muhammadiyah calendar, namely February 8 2027.
