ZOAHARIAN.COM – Good news for motor vehicle owners. The vehicle tax reduction program is still ongoing in a number of provinces until October, some even provide relief until December 2026.
The programs provided by each region are different. There are provinces that only eliminate administrative fines, there are also those that provide partial write-off of arrears until taxpayers have enough to pay the current year's taxes.
With this program, vehicle owners who are in arrears can take advantage of the momentum to put their vehicle administration in order again at a lower cost.
The following are a number of provinces that are still implementing vehicle tax reduction or relief programs:
1. Lampung
The Lampung Provincial Government has extended the vehicle tax reduction program until October 31 2026.
For vehicles with arrears of one year or more and the vehicle is over 20 years old, the owner only needs to pay the current year's PKB. The arrears and fines were removed.
Meanwhile, vehicles with arrears of one year or more and a maximum age of 20 years only need to pay the current year's PKB plus 50 percent of the principal of the first year's arrears.
Lampung also provides vehicle tax discounts of 5-15 percent for obedient taxpayers as well as reduced transfer and name change fees.
2. Central Java
The Central Java Provincial Government is holding a Central Java program Free from Administrative and Progressive Sanctions from 21 September to 28 December 2026.
The community gets exemption from administrative sanctions or PKB fines. In addition, progressive taxes for second, third, fourth, fifth and subsequent motor vehicle ownership are also exempted during the program period according to the provisions.
3. Papua Barat
The vehicle tax reduction program in West Papua lasts until 31 October 2026.
The relief provided includes the elimination of PKB principal and fines for arrears from the sixth year and above, a 10 percent reduction in PKB principal for arrears of up to five years, as well as a 12 percent tax incentive for vehicles that do not have arrears from the previous year.
There is also a reduction in BBNKB principal by 10 percent and elimination of PKB fines for arrears from the first to fifth years.
4. Bali
The Bali Provincial Government is providing a reduction in the PKB principal throughout 2026.
For vehicles up to 200 cc, an 8 percent reduction is given, while vehicles over 200 cc receive a 9 percent reduction.
Taxpayers who do not have arrears from the previous year also receive additional deductions according to the program provisions.
5. East Java
East Java is again holding vehicle tax whitening through the whitening program volume 2.
This policy includes exemption from administrative sanctions for PKB and BBNKB as well as exemption from the imposition of progressive PKB.
The East Java Provincial Government also provides a reduction in PKB principal arrears for 2025 and the previous year by 20 percent for workers who own two-wheeled motorbikes.
For two-wheeled vehicles owned by taxpayers that are included in the P3KE or DTSEN data, exemption from PKB principal arrears for 2025 and previous years is available.
6. Bangka Belitung
The Bangka Belitung Islands Provincial Government provides exemption from PKB fines, SWDKLLJ fines and BBNKB II fines.
This program runs until 31 October 2026 and can be used through the Samsat office or the Mobile Samsat service.
7. South Sumatra
South Sumatra is holding vehicle tax relief from 1-31 October 2026.
One of the policies is that vehicles with arrears only need to pay two years, namely one year in arrears and one year in arrears, and are free of fines.
There is also a 5 percent discount for taxpayers who pay on time before the due date.
For vehicles from outside South Sumatra that transfer in, a 50 percent PKB discount and BBNKB II exemption are available. SWDKLLJ fines from last year and previous years were also waived.
8. West Nusa Tenggara
The NTB Provincial Government is still providing a vehicle tax relief program based on NTB Gubernatorial Regulation Number 6 of 2026.
However, a number of whitening programs have ended on September 30, 2026.
The program that is still ongoing is a 50 percent tax discount for vehicles from outside the region that transfer to NTB. This relief is valid until December 19, 2026.
For vehicle owners who have arrears, it is important to pay attention to the provisions of each region because the form of relief, amount of write-off and program time limits vary.
