Cianjur Suddenly Feels Like Japan, Tabebuya Blooms Decorate the Streets to the Square

ZOAHARIAN.COM  – You don't need to fly all the way to Japan to enjoy the view of flowers that resemble cherry blossoms. An atmosphere like the land of Sakura is currently present in Cianjur Regency, West Java.

This sight appeared when the tabebuya trees planted on a number of protocol roads leading to the Cianjur Square area began to bloom.

Tabebuya flowers can be seen decorating the right and left of the road with various colors. There are white to yellow flowers which create a different view than usual.

A similar charm can also be seen in the Cianjur Square area. The tabebuya trees planted along the Asmaul Husna alley are blooming with pink flowers.

When these flowers bloom at the same time, the atmosphere of Cianjur Square becomes more beautiful. Rows of pink flowers make the area briefly reminiscent of the atmosphere in Japan when the cherry blossoms enter blooming season.

For residents, this phenomenon is an interesting sight and an opportunity to enjoy the beautiful atmosphere without having to spend money.

Ilham Hanafi (22), a resident of Cianjur, admitted that he was impressed by the change in the atmosphere of the city when the tabebuya started to bloom.

"It's like it's not in Cianjur, it's like being in Japan when it's blooming," said Ilham, Friday (11/9/2026).

According to him, the presence of flowering tabebuya also provides space for people to immortalize the moment.

"So it's a free place to take photos, you don't need to go to Japan to get a background like in Japan with its cherry blossoms," he said.

Deliberately planted by the Cianjur Regency Government

Cianjur Regency Regional Secretary Ahmad Rifai said that the existence of tabebuya trees in a number of Cianjur areas was part of the environmental planning carried out by the regional government.

These trees were deliberately planted along roads and squares.

Apart from beautifying the face of the city, tabebuya also has an environmental function. The trees can help produce oxygen while providing shade for road users and pedestrians.

However, the most attractive charm is seen when the plant enters the flowering period.

"Usually it blooms in the dry season. And after many years it finally blooms completely. So it provides a beautiful view for the residents of Cianjur," said Ahmad.

Now, rows of blooming tabebuya are one of the sights that steal attention in Cianjur.

With a variety of flower colors and pink flower alleys in the Alun-alun area, Cianjur for a while really presents an atmosphere that makes residents feel like they are enjoying spring in the land of Sakura.
