Not Just Drinking Coffee, the Memories Coffee Business Turns the Economy into Trillions of Rupiah

ZOAHARIAN.COM – A cup of coffee may only cost tens of thousands of rupiah. However, if you look at the scale of the business and the length of the supply chain, the activity of drinking coffee can actually move the economy in a much greater way.

This can be seen from the business activities of Kopi Kenangan during the reporting period from July 1 2025 to June 30 2026. In that period, the company recorded gross revenues reaching IDR 3.7 trillion.

Not only that, Kopi Kenangan was also recorded as spending around Rp. 1.83 trillion to suppliers and making a tax contribution to the state amounting to Rp. 372.1 billion.

The economic impact is also visible in terms of employment. As of July 31, 2026, Kopi Kenangan's business expansion is said to have opened 9,117 direct jobs and supported around 21,338 indirect jobs.

Thus, the company's business activities are connected with more than30 thousand jobsin various sectors.

Has more than 1,273 outlets

Kopi Kenangan has been present in Indonesia since 2017 and continues to expand its business network.

During the reporting period, the company had more than 1,273 outlets spread across 218 cities in Indonesia.

The distribution of these outlets covers various regions. West Java is the region with the largest number of outlets, namely 457 outlets, followed by Greater Jakarta with 320 outlets and Sumatra with 175 outlets.

Meanwhile, East Java has 138 outlets, Central Java 113 outlets, Kalimantan 60 outlets, Sulawesi 57 outlets, and Bali and Nusa Tenggara 19 outlets.

The large number of outlets means that business needs do not stop with activities inside the shop.

Behind one cup of coffee there is a supply chain involving farmers, raw material suppliers, packaging manufacturers, logistics workers and even workers in outlets.

88.6 Percent of Raw Materials Come from Domestically

One important part of the economic chain is the use of local raw materials.

A total of 88.6 percent of Kopi Kenangan's raw materials are said to come from within the country.

Coffee beans and palm sugar, for example, are obtained from local farmers and business actors. These needs are then connected to various other sectors, including suppliers, packaging manufacturers and logistics service companies.

The use of local raw materials means that the company's business activities not only have an impact on the retail sector, but also create demand for business actors along the supply chain.

Selling 530 Thousand Cups of Coffee Every Day

The scale of the Kopi Kenangan business can also be seen from the number of products sold.

The company currently sells more than530,000 cups every day in Indonesia.

This volume requires large workforce support. Thousands of workers are directly involved in company operations, from baristas to various support functions.

Meanwhile, tens of thousands of other jobs are connected indirectly through supply chains and the economic activity that arises from these businesses.

Tax Contribution Reaches IDR 372.1 Billion

Apart from creating jobs and moving the supply chain, Kopi Kenangan's activities also contribute to the country through taxation.

During the reporting period from 1 July 2025 to 30 June 2026, the company's tax contribution was recorded at IDR 372.1 billion.

These figures show that the coffee business has a wider economic effect than transactions seen directly at the cashier.

Starting from farmers who provide raw materials, suppliers, logistics workers, baristas to the state through tax revenues, everyone is part of the economic chain that moves behind a cup of coffee.

With more than 1,273 outlets and sales of hundreds of thousands of cups per day, the coffee industry is now not only part of people's lifestyle, but has also become one of the business activities that creates economic turnover on a large scale.
